Michael W. "Mike" Cowen, 46, a lifelong Parsons resident, died Wednesday August 22, 2007, at his residence. His death was unexpected.
He was born on November 30, 1959, at Parsons to Merle Eugene and Peggy Ann (Myers) Cowen. He grew up and attended schools in Parsons. He went to work at IMI Forms when he was 17. He worked there and at the Flesh Company for 30 years. He retired earlier this year for health reasons.
He and Kim Stice were united in marriage in 1983 at his parents' home in Parsons. They later divorced.
In his youth he attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Parsons. He enjoyed his fishing, four wheeling, Kansas City Chiefs Football and Kansas City Royals Baseball. He was devoted to his family and loved them very much.
Survivors include two sons, Craig Cowen and Ty Cowen, both of Parsons; a brother, Mark Cowen of Parsons; a sister, Kim Bowman of Parsons; four nieces, Kelli Roberts and her husband, Eddie, Crystal Roberts and her husband, Brent, Amber Davis and Jamie Schulze; and several great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Carson-Wall Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, 112 N. 26th St. P.O. Box 942, Parsons, Ks. 67357.
