MONONA/MCFARLAND - Elaine Faye Braley, age 83, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014. She was born on July 21, 1931, in Madison, the daughter of George H. Brown and Bessie Bell Anderson.
Elaine graduated from East High School in 1950, where she played in the marching band, theater and was active in sports. She fell in love and married her high school sweetheart, David L. Braley. On October 20, they would have celebrated 64 years of marriage. Together they had five children.
Elaine worked as a teacherís assistant at Central Wisconsin Center for 31 years. Besides the love of her life, her children and grandchildren, Elaine enjoyed traveling, line dancing, playing cards, volleyball, golf, her Tops Club No. 608, and being an avid Packers, Brewers and Badgers fan. In her earlier years, she also enjoyed snowmobiling and boating.
Elaine is survived by her husband, David; three children, Michael (Mike) D (Cindy Meier) Braley, Cathy Koch and Kirk (Joan) Braley; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Juanita Braley; sister, Joan Godwin; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Brown and Bev (Bob) Berry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant daughter, Julie; her son, David Jr.; sisters Adena Mabie and Marcella Weisensel; brother, Eugene Brown; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Ann "Pat" Vedvig Braley.
A Funeral Service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, with Pastor Nick Upthall presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Donations may be made to Agrace HospiceCare in Elaineís name. Miss Elaine Faye Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Henry Brown, 2722 Union St. met David Lee Braley, son of the Orvill C. Braleys, 3519 Commercial Ave., before the alter of Bethel Lutheran church, Saturday at 2 p.m. to be united in marriage before the Rev. F. I. Schmidt.
A short satin jacket designed with a Queen Anne collar topped the strapless satin bodice and bouffant nylon tulle skirt of Miss Brown's wedding gown. A fingertip veil, secured with a crown of orange blossoms, and a cascade of pink Delight roses completed her ensemble.
The bride's sister Adena Mabie, was maid of honor and Misses Barbara Davis and Helen Walterschrix was bridesmaid. They were attired in strapless formals and short satin jackets styled with rolled collars and short sleeves. The honor attendant appeared in lavender, and the other sides wore forest green. They carried contrasting crescent bouquets of yellow crysanthemums.
White satin frocks with pink net overskirts were the gowns the flower girls, Lynn LaBelle and Penny Brown. Timothy Brown was ring bearer.
Attending the bridegroom was Otho Rounds Jr., best man, and George Bambrough, Richard Keller, Eugene Brown, and WIlliam Aberle.
A reception for 200 guests was held at Kehl's casino. The ouple left later for their honeymoon in northern Wisconsin.
The newlyweds will return Oct. 29 to be at home at 2725 Center St.
