Enlisted in Troop CC Cavalry, June 1, 1898, in Brooklyn, NY. Transferred to Troop C, NY Volunteer Cavalry, June 11, 1898, at Camp Alger, VA, for service in the Spanish American War. After training at Camp Alger, Troop C shipped out for Puerto Rico, July 28, 1898, aboard the transport Massachusetts, from Newport News, VA. Landing at Playa, port of Ponte, PR, August 4, 1898. He participated in the Puerto Rico Campaign and saw combat at Coamo & Asomante. Returning to the States, September 10, 1898, aboard the transport Mississippi, docking at Jersey City, NJ. The City of Brooklyn gave Troop C, NY Volunteer Cavalry a " Welcome Home Parade ", October 1, 1898. Discharged Nov, 25, 1898, Brooklyn, NY.
