Yakima-Edith Luella Bailey 89 passed away quietly in the company of family and friends at Good Samaritan Health Care Center on May 13, 2009 and entered the gates of Heaven to embrace her Savior. Edith was born to Warren Cloud Clements and Hattie Julia Burch Clements on November 30, 1919 in Wakeeney Kansas. She grew up and raised her family in the Wapato area. She worked at the evaporator for several years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, looking for rocks, music, dancing and telling stories about her family. Most of all she loved her children and extended family and helped everyone she could. Edith was preceded in death by a son William (Bill) Metsker Jr. and a daughter Starlene Visaya. She is lovingly survived by five children, Mildred Vandervort of Kennewick, Marie Sharpneck of Selah, Raymond (Linda) Bailey, Michael Bailey, Mitchell (Lila) Bailey all of Yakima. A son in law and longtime friend Dale Sharpneck. Her family grew to include eighty plus grand children great and great great grand children too numerous to mention. Edith touched the lives of everyone who knew her and was loved by all. As her family continued to grow, she became known to all as Mom or Granny. She will be dearly missed by scores of family and friends. Viewing will be held Friday May 22, 2009 1:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. at Langevin Mussetter Funeral Home 1010 W. Yakima Ave. Yakima. At her request no formal services will be held at this time but her urn will be placed at Terrace Heights Memorial Park at a later date.

Granny was a great lady who truly cared. She had a hard life and told stories of Great Grandma Hattie going off to have another child. She could get a Southern accent by saying peanut butter cookies. This is one of my favorite memories. She could cook like there was no tomorrow long as she had eggs potatoes or noodles she could make a mean dish. Grandma loved her coffee, she also loved her cats and dogs.
