HAMPTON - Richard G. Bellan, MSgt. (USAF, Ret.), 67, a native of Pennsylvania and 36-year resident of Hampton, passed away on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009.

Mr. Bellan was retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1984 after 24 years of service. He served two tours of duty in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church for 35 years. He enjoyed golf, woodworking, spending time with his family and riding his hover-round through the neighborhood with Jordi on his lap.
Richard was preceded in rest by his father and mother, George and Caroline Bellan.

Left to cherish the memory of his life are his wife of 44 years, Nancy K. Bellan; daughters, Kimberly A. Freshour and fiance, Eric (Rikk) Frost and Pamela R. Bellan; grandchild, Sr. Airman Christopher B. Freshour of McGuire AFB, N.J., and girlfriend, Samantha McDonald; brother, Joseph E. Bellan of Duncansville, Pa.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Matt and Connie Draskovich; and six nieces and nephews and their families.

A Memorial Celebration of Richard's Life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 2510 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, officiated by Rev. Elizabeth W. Taylor.

The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Edu A. Mohammed and the nursing staff of the Cardiac Care Unit of Sentara CarePlex, as well as all our friends and home healthcare workers who provided such excellent care to our loved one.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Richard's memory to Wesley United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23666.
