Daniel Allen Dubose was born on March 30, 1932 to Dallas & Emma Etta Court Dubose, in Beaumont, TX. and passed away on November 2, 2012.
Dan graduated from Ingleside High School and attended Texas A&M. He then followed in the footsteps of many of his relatives by becoming a seaman working on tug boats and ships in various positions such as mate, master, chief mate, captain and then as a pilot.
He was retired from the Aransas/Corpus Christi Pilots. His first love was always horses. A good rodeo or a cattle roundup was what he would rather be doing.
After retiring, he raised broodmares and joyfully awaited spring for the birth of each filly or colt raising them for quarter horse racing. Traveling the country to attend a horse race soon became the "on the road again" slogan to his family and friends. He was a member of the AQHA for many years.
He was a Mason for 56 years, Lodge 1018, Corpus Christi 91, R.A.M., Corpus Christi 55, R. & S.M. 50+ year member, and member of Master Mates and Pilots. Dan was a devoted son, husband, father and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Dubose of Houston.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Grace of Ingleside; daughter and son-in-law, Danelle and Connor Brown of Ingleside; sister-in-law, Mary Dubose of Houston;
Nephews, Kevin and Dr. Glenda Dubose and Robert and Karin Dubose all of Houston;
Niece, Lori Dubose of Eastin, PA; two great nephews, two great nieces and very dear special friends, Anthony King, Hamp & Ruth O'Neill, and Katie Miller Elrod; and several cousins and a host of friends.
A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, November 5, 2012, 3:00 p.m. at Prairie View Cemetery, Aransas Pass. Reverend Jim Friedel will be officiating followed by a Masonic service.
