Today with sad and broken hearts we say good bye to a beautiful lady. Carmelinda Perez, 59, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 after a long illness. She was a wife, mother, sister and aunt. Carmen was the grandmother of three fantastic grandchildren. She would proudly tell any one about their adventures and accomplishments. Carmen was a selfless person, a caregiver, a gardener, seamstress and her most favorite title was softball player. She gave of herself tirelessly to who ever needed her. As a sister she was the glue and backbone of her 6 sisters and 2 brothers. They knew she was just a phone call away if needed. She would be the first to walk through the door for whoever needed her. She was the shoulder they or anyone could cry on when needed. She raised three beautiful, intelligent, independent daughters that she was so very proud of. She taught them to think for themselves, work hard for what they want and be proud of what they achieve. They were her greatest accomplishment and are her legacy. As a daughter she gave selflessly to her parents. She became their caregiver, nurse, and chauffer when they most needed her. She did not think twice of putting her life on hold to care for her parents. Today they are now holding her in their arms. As an aunt she was funny, witty and always smiling.
She treated her nieces and nephews no different than her own daughters. They were also her daughters and sons and not a single one was loved more than the other. She was a wife who gave everything to her marriage and husband. She stood beside her husband as a wife and partner, and enjoyed their many blessings together. Carmen loved to play softball. When she was out in the field she was truly happy. You could tell just by the fantastic smile on her face, no one could hit the ball harder and over the fence like she could. So although today marks the end of a beautiful life let us grieve our loss together and draw comfort in knowing that one day we will be together again with her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Candelario and Juanita Campos Delgado; her maternal grandparents, Esperidion and Juanita Dominquez Campos; her paternal grandparents, Guillermo and Virginia Elizalde Delgado all of San Diego, Texas.
Carmelinda is survived by her husband of 43 years of marriage, Pedro "Pete" Perez of Freer, Texas; three daughters, Catherine Louise (Anthony Paul) Maingot of Corpus Christi, Texas; Corina Perez- Lillie of Clegg, Texas; Carmen Lamar Hasette of Corpus Christi, Texas; three grandchildren, Michael Roderick Maingot, Ciara Renae Lillie, Kelly Brock Lillie; six sisters, Juanita "Janie" (Emilio ) Barrera, Frances (Ruben ) Deleon, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; Raquel Delgado of Del Rio, Texas; Irma (Joe) Benavides, Graciela (Alfredo ) Perez both of Port Orchard, WA; Gloria (Blas) Bustamante Jr, of Tacoma, WA; two brothers, Candelario (Sarah) Delgado of Corpus Christi, Texas; Daniel (Carol) Delgado of Humptulips, WA; numerous nieces and nephews.
