THELMA T. COOPER, 65, of 1787 Meadowhill, retired teacher at Southside High and Booker T. Washington High, died of heart failure Sunday at her home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Lauderdale, where she served as program coordinator, with burial in Elmwood. T.H. Hayes & Sons Funeral Home has charge.

She was a member of National Teachers Association and National Education Association.

Mrs. Cooper, the widow of Herman Cooper, leaves a daughter, Rena P. Cooper; two stepdaughters, Georgia Anne Cooper-Thomas and Brenda Cooper; a stepson, Victor Cooper; two brothers, Jimmie Lee Dennis and Earl Elliot Jr., and two grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to First Baptist Church Lauderdale Scholarship Fund.
