Birth: Feb. 2, 1745
Fishponds
Bristol, England
Death: Sep. 7, 1833
Clifton
Bristol, England

Author and reformer.Possibly the most important of the female literary circle known as the 'Bluestockings', Hannah More was a founder of the Religious Tract Society, an establisher of Sunday Schools, a schoolteacher herself, as well as the author of the David Garrick produced plays 'Fatal Falsehood' and 'Percy'. She also wrote the novel 'Coelebs in Search of a Wife' as well as religious tracts and letters, short prose stories and poetry. As with most of the Bluestockings, her writings are out of fashion, but in her heyday she could count Joshua Reynolds and Samuel Johnson among her friends, and well into old age received many admiring visitors.
