Miss Alvena M. Christensen of Graettinger died Thursday, July 30, 1987, at Palo Alto County Hospital. She was 73.
Services for Miss Christensen were held Saturday, Aug 1, at 10:30 a.m. at the Beiter Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Mr. Paul Elliott and the Rev. Thomas Robbins officiated.
Burial was in the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery at Rolfe.
Casket bearers were Miss Christensen's grand nephews: Terry Swenson, Randy Swenson, Michael Hansen, Robert Hansen and Shane Tonderum.
Alvena Mae Christensen was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Plover, the daughter of Soren J. and Anna (Kerr) Christensen. She attended Des Moines Township Gradeschool and graduated from Graettinger High School.
Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Lura McGuffin of St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Nelva Hansen of Graettinger, Mrs. Russel (Merle) Kauffman of Swea City, and Mrs. Lula Schmidt of Emmetsburg; and two brothers, Warren Christensen of Larchwood, and Dale Christensen of Lakota.
Miss Christensen was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
