Mary Christine Ahern, 93, of St. Vincent Home, formerly of 1628 Spruce, Quincy, went to be with the Lord on Sunday (Oct. 10, 2010) from Blessing Hospital.

Mary was born Oct. 13, 1916, in Edina, Mo., a daughter of Anthony Francis and Mary Gabriel Gangloff Hunolt. Mary came to Quincy from Edina in 1925, staying at the St. Aloysius Orphanage, and was raised by Agnes Durk, her maternal aunt.

She married Wells Stephen Ahern on Feb. 20, 1941, in St. Peter Catholic Church. He died May 4, 1950.

Mary was a seamstress for Three Sisters Ready to Wear in 1938. She became a homemaker after getting married. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Edina, St. Francis Grade School in Quincy and Notre Dame.

Mary was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and later St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Mary is survived by three children, Mary E. Leckbee of Jacksonville, Matthew Joseph Ahern of Tampa, Fla., and Maureen E. Leckbee of Maywood, Mo.; three grandchildren, Paul Leckbee, Alan Leckbee and Dawn Leckbee; and a sister, Helen Knowles. Many nieces, including Sheron Sherwood, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; twin sons, Michael and Mark Ahern; a daughter, Martha E. Leckbee; a brother, Robert Hunolt; and a sister, Martha McNutt.

SERVICES: 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

MEMORIALS: Skilled Nursing Unit at Blessing Hospital.

ARRANGEMENTS: Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
