Graveside services for Nelson Edward Tingle, 66, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth M. Kueker officiating.
Mr. Tingle died Wednesday, June 24, 1992, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Lawrence, the son of Edward Bicklin and Viola Mae Evans Tingle.
He attended Lawrence public schools.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in both the Pacific and Asian theaters. In the early 1950s,
Mr. Tingle worked for Rhodes Heating and Roofing, and before that he worked at the Fritzel Jayhawk Dairy. Mr. Tingle worked at Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant from 1952 to 1959. He worked for the Lawrence street department in 1961-62 and then moved to Omaha, Neb. He moved to Leavenworth in 1966 and worked there as a building manager for 24 years. In 1985, he retired and returned to Lawrence.
He married Loeta Elaine McMullen on Jan. 30, 1948, in Lawrence.
She survives of the home. Other survivors include three daughters, Evelyn K. Beardshear, Leavenworth, Carol E. Berg, Lawrence, and Patricia A. Campbell, Eudora; one brother, Raymond E., Lawrence; three sisters, Doris Bartkoski, Tonganoxie, Maxine Ireland, Lawrence, and Esther M. Parsons, Baldwin; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
