Clarence Ray Davis
TERRE HAUTE — Clarence Ray Davis, 89, of Terre Haute, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at Methodist Hospital, in Indianapolis. Ray was born April 18, 1922, in South Chicago Heights, Ill. He was the son of Cecil and Cora (Woods) Davis. He was a 1942 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater. He retired from ARCO Aluminum (formerly Anaconda) in 1984, attended First Church of the Nazarene and was past president of the Antique Classic Car Club.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Charles Pender, and Doreena and Merv Javins; two grandsons, Craig Pender and Lynelle, and Eric Pender and Katrina; two nephews, John Fowler and Gary Fowler; and great-grandchildren, Coby, Rylee, Connor, and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 69 years Mary Kathleen, who passed away Nov. 25, 2011; a sister, Eloise Fowler; and a grandson, Scott Javins.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive. The Rev. Jeff Lee will be officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a contribution be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
