Harry L. Cox, 78, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009, at his home. He was the son of the late Ora Cox and Dorothy Collins Cox of New Goshen. He was born Dec. 29, 1930. He retired from Alcan Aluminum in 1987, after many years of service. He is survived by his wife, Norma Walker Cox, whom he married May 16, 1953; a son, Richard Wayne Cox and his wife Carrie of Terre Haute; a daughter, Debra Slicker and her husband Bernard of Bradenton, Fla.; two grandsons and four granddaughters, Tracy Whited and her husband Allen, Ben Webster and his wife Jennifer, Brandy Bennett and her husband Drew, Matthew Webster and his companion Carla Brown, Stephanie Cox and her companion Johnny Johnson, and Melinda Presnell and her husband Sean; 16 precious great-grandchildren; a brother, Clyde Cox and his wife Ruth of Leakey, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Kenneth Cox of New Goshen. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, having served in France and Germany. He was a member and past master of Rosedale Lodge 259 Free and Accepted Masons for many years. He also was a member and past potentate of Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., in West Terre Haute, with the Rev. Ed Gladdish officiating. Burial is in Pleasantview Cemetery, with graveside military rites by Krietenstein Post 104 American Legion. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Masonic memorial service at 7 p.m.
