Dawn was the principal at Sandy Hook Elementary School. She received a bachelor's degree in special education from Central Connecticut State University in 1993, a master's in special education from Southern Connecticut State University in 1997, and a sixth-year degree in educational leadership from Southern in 1998.
She was employed with Mitchell Elementary School as principal for three years, Nonnewaug High School, Bethlehem Elementary as principal for three years, and had been a special education teacher for Roosevelt Elementary School and Schaghticoke Middle School.
She leaves behind her husband, George, as well as two daughters and three step-daughters.
Dawn was a victim of the tragic events which took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
