James E. "Jim" Doyle of Glen Ellyn since 1959.
James E. "Jim" Doyle, 83, was born July 13, 1928, in Kankakee, to Ernest and Margaret (nee Corcoran). Jim retired in 1990, from Hadley Junior High School in Glen Ellyn where he taught industrial arts for 31 years. During that time he owned and operated the DO Decorators Painting Business. He received his undergraduate and graduate degree in education from the Illinois State University. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army of Occupation in Japan. Jim was a golfer, fisherman, bowler, square dancer and world traveler. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Louise (nee Sommer); children, Lawrence (Phyllis), Susan Doyle, Lee (Brian) Birnbaum, Thomas (Deborah), Daniel (Lisa) and Patrick (Mary); and 17 grandchildren. He was the brother-in-law of Paul Sommer and Madonna Doyle; and uncle of four nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn. Please meet for funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Petronille Catholic Church, 420 Glenwood Ave., Glen Ellyn. Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
