Bobbye J. Holmes of Glen Ellyn for 44 years.
Bobbye J. Holmes (nee White), 73, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at her home. She was an educator, realtor, civil rights activist and an elder at her church. She was the beloved wife of 48 years to Cleveland; loving mother of Barry (Tobi) Holmes and Katrina (Marvin) Johnson; devoted grandmother of Brenden and Christopher Hedrick, and Melikah and Mariah Johnson; dear sister of Viola (the late Willard) Jackson, Eva (John) Lee, Mary (Alvin) Quinn and Elaine (Roy) Rugless; and fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. She leaves a host of many friends. Visitation will be on Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road (one block east of Naperville Road), Wheaton. Funeral services will be on Saturday, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn, 550 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn, Ill. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
