Obituary for Anne Cecelia Brown
After a five month struggle with cancer, Anne Brown passed away at home early on the morning of September 15, 2010. Her husband, Nyle and daughter, Denise, were at her side at her time of passing. Anne was the wife of Nyle Brown and was preceded in death by her father, Garland Pinner, and mother, Margaret (Tracy) Pinner. She was the mother of Denise Walker of Boise and Kara Hay of Wichita, Kansas. In addition, Anne is survived by her brother, John Pinner, and five wonderful grandchildren.
Anne was born in Pittsburg, Kansas, April 19, 1946 and, as the daughter of teachers, spent her early years in small towns in southeast Kansas and western Missouri. She married Nyle Brown, October 8, 1966 in Caney, Kansas. A year later Nyle and Anne moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where they lived until moving to Boise in 1999.
Anne earned her Bachelors Degree in Engineering from Idaho State University in 1983 and worked as an engineer at the Idaho National Laboratory and at Energy Incorporated in Idaho Falls. With the move to Boise, she was employed for a time at Micron Technology. Her early work at the INL made her one of the very few female nuclear reactor operators in the USA. She was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
A lover of classical music, opera and art, Anne didn't find her true calling as an artist until her retirement in 2003. Her oil paintings are being enjoyed from coast to coast with several completed paintings and works in progress are awaiting release. She was also a skilled flower arranger and gardener. Above all, Anne was one of the kindest, most loving and caring persons one could ever have the good fortune to know. She was not a vegetarian but expressed great concern for the well-being of the animals in our food chain. Her preference for organic foods, cage free eggs and humane treatment of all animals was an integral part of her nature. Her greatest joy was hosting regular Tuesday night dinners with family and friends. The larger the gathering, the more she enjoyed it. She loved everything and everybody. She will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to know and love her.
Nyle and Denise are planning a Celebration of Life to be held at Anne's home in Boise, Saturday, October 2, 2010. Please contact Nyle at 208-367-1165 or Denise at 208-939-7171 for details.
