VERA MARIE STERLING Feb. 5, 1932 June 8, 2006 Gary, Indiana Vera at age 74 was a resident of Gary, Indiana for 50+ years. She departed this life on June 8, 2006 at Rush Presbyterian Saint Lukes Medical Center in Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Lucille Marie and Jessie James Keys, a son Baby Sterling (still born), 3 brothers Milton Keys, Jessie Keys, Mott Travis Keys (MT), and sister Mildred Lewis. She was well known and loved by her family, friends and community. Vera was born on February 5, 1932 in Quitman, Mississippi. She was joined in matrimony to Orvell Sterling, Sr. on September 23, 1955 and out of that blessing they had four children: Diane Marie Sterling, Danny Earl Sterling, Danita Faye Sterling and Orvell (Boe) Sterling, Jr.; 5 grandchildren Jacqueline Marie Sterling, Tamara LaShun Woodland, Dana Lawrence Sterling, Dominique Megan Sterling, Danielle Marie Sterling and 1 great-grandchild Samira LaShun Taylor (Louise). She is also survived by her siblings Essie Bolds, Velma Smith, Maggie Crump, Mamie Mitchell, Alonzo Crosby and many loving relatives and life long friends. Funeral services will be held at Tarrytown Baptist Church, located at 601 Ralston, Gary Indiana on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Viewing available starting at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Oakhill Commentary, Assn., 4450 Harrison St., Gary, Indiana. Services entrusted to Smith, Bizzell, Warner & Son Funeral Home, 4209 Grant Street.
