"Rev. Stephen Gross was age 85 yrs when he died Nov. 27, 1887, and his wife died two days later. They rest in one grave. Through his earnest ministry many of the churches in the Ellsworth Q.M. [Quarterly Meeting] were strengthened, if not planted. He was loyal to his denomination, and an early subscriber and devoted reader of the "Morning Star. He was successful in his ministry."
