"Rev. James C. Marston, was born in Parsonfield, Maine, Aug. 14, 1804, and emigrated to western New York at an early age. In 1854 he went to Iowa and the following year united with the Postville church, where he became deacon. He received license from the Elgin Quarterly Meeting (Q.M.) in 1859 and ordination in 1861, serving the Postville and Bloomfield churches as pastor until his death in 1865. All the benevolent enterprises of the day received his hearty co-operation."
