He was father to several children by his first wife.
His conversion took place in 1842 and his ordination to the ministry in 1856, the council being composed of Freewill Baptist Elders Seth Parker, E. Root and Thomas Dimm. He had the care of several churches in Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. He was twice a member of the General Conference, and he organized two churches and had several revivals. He also pastored at Pleasant Ridge as late as 1889.
