- GREAT FALLS - Mr. James William "Billy" Brown, 78, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at his home.
- The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Patrick Blackmon and the Rev. Mike Sollers officiating. Interment with Masonic rites will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
- The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, S.C.
- Born in Spartanburg County on Sept. 2, 1932, he was a son of the late James Thomas Brown and Mittie Emory Brown Taylor. Mr. Brown graduated from Great Falls High School and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He served as a Great Falls policeman for over 20 years and retired from his law enforcement career as a S.C. Corrections Officer. He was also co-owner of the Village Grill for a number of years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Great Falls Masonic Lodge #277.
- Mr. Brown is survived by three daughters, Deborah Yearwood of China Grove, N.C., Shirley B. Lyles and husband, Stanley, of Great Falls and Wanda B. Edwards and husband, Tim, of Lancaster; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wallace P. "Hambone" Brown and wife, Connie, of Great Falls and Lloyd Brown and wife, Lenora of Heath Springs, S.C.; and one sister, Evelyn B. Trotter of Great Falls.
