Alyss H. Sharr, 43, formerly of Turbotville, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2009 in Reading.
A private memorial service is being planned at the family's convenience. Memorial donations may be sent to the Danville SPCA.
Alyss H. Sharr, 43, of 1307 White Hall Road, Turbotville, went to be with her Lord Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Reading Hospital.
Born March 23, 1966 at Muncy Valley Hospital, she was the daughter of Patricia A. (Prowant) Sharr and the late Donald E. Sharr, Sr., who died Nov. 21, 1990.
Alyss attended Warrior Run High School and later attained her GED and graduated with and Associates Degree in 1992 from Harcum Junior College, Bryn Mawr as a Veterinary Technician. While attending school there she worked in the Harcum College Post Office.
She had been employed at the Veterinary Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania; Veterinary Hospital-New Bolton Center, Kennett Square; Brightstone Farms, Inc., Bloomsburg; Animal Care Center, Danville; Susquehanna Trail Animal Hospital, Watsontown; Bloomsburg Veterinary Hospital, Inc.; White Deer Run Treatment Center, Allenwood; and Valli's Polished Pet Parlor, Riverside. For the past ten years she had worked as a Psychiatric Aide at Danville State Hospital until transferring to Wernersville State Hospital recently.
Alyss enjoyed planting trees and bushes and taking care of the lawn at her home. She dearly loved all animals, especially horses, and had many cats and dogs throughout her lifetime.
The youngest of seven children, surviving besides her mother of Turbotville are three brothers: Donald E., Jr. and his wife Ruth of Watsontown; David and his wife Sue of Sunbury; Robbin and his wife Traci, Danville; three sisters: Cathy Buckwalter and her husband Michael of Houston, Missouri; Christine Yost and her husband Michael of Apache Junction, AZ; and Cindy Anderson of Milton; a nephew, Patrick Anderson and his wife Dawn of Milton; her Aunt Judy Loreman and husband Ed of Catawissa; Aunt Shirley Willett, Watsontown; Uncle Robert Sharr and wife Anna, Watsontown, many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her boyfriend, William Starr of Womelsdorf.
A memorial service for her family will be held at her home at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory be made to the Danville SPCA, 2801 Bloom Road, Danville, PA 17821.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville.
