Born in Leverett's Chapel to Mary Evalyn Hindman Davis and George Wiley Davis. After graduating from Leverett's Chapel High School in 1952, he attended Kilgore Jr. College and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX for two years. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1959, completed basic training at Lackland AFB and was stationed at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX. Additional assignments were at the Pentagon; Okinawa, Japan; Randolph AFB; Laughlin AFB; Crete; Pensacola, FL; Misawa, Japan; Kelly AFB; Da Nang, Viet Nam; Lackland (again); and Kelly AFB (again). He retired in 1979 at the rank of Tech Sgt. He was awarded the USAF Commendation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was awarded a Top Secret Security Clearance by the OSI in 1967. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for the then E-Systems in Greenville, TX until 1993. Upon retiring from E-Systems, he retired to Lakeland, FL and worked with Alpha Trains. Surviving are his his children, Kimberly Ann Davis Smith, Tracy Allon Davis, and George William Davis, Jr.; sisters, Jeanette Swan Lawrence, Mary Ann Swan and Dee Swan of Overton, TX, and Deanna Sanford; and brother, W Parks Davis.
