Lucile Black Brooks, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away May 19, 2001, in Murray, Utah.
She was born June 10, 1925 in Fillmore, UT to George King Black and Sarah Lucile Snow. She married her sweetheart Walter Baxter Brooks June 21, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She graduated from the LDS Hospital Nursing Program at the University of Utah and worked at LDS and Cottonwood Hospitals as a registered nurse where she was known as a very compassionate caregiver. Lucile was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as ward and stake Relief Society president where she touched many lives with her tender heart, and as a temple ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple. She also faithfully served a mission with her husband in Ohio. Her greatest joy was serving family, quilting, and making the world's best apple pie.
Survived by her husband, Walter Baxter Brooks; five sons, Walt (Janet), Doug (Ginger), Wayne (Debbie), John (Wendy), Paul (Cindy); 21 grandchil-dren; and sisters, Lydia, Reva. She was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, and one granddaughter.
Services will be Tues. May 22, 2001, 11 a.m. at the Murray LDS 11th Ward chapel, 5750 S. Nena Way. Friends may call Mon. 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St. and Tues. at the church 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
