Ben was a son of Benjamin Fry and his second wife Nancy Ann Cadwallader. Ben was a farmer in Concord Township in Iroquois County, Illinois. He married his first wife, Pirmela about 1835. They had six known children; three sons and three daughters. After Pirmela's untimely death in 1850, Ben married Mrs. Jane Karr (unsure if Karr is her maiden name or surname from first marriage). Jane had three children from her previous marriage, that Ben raised as his own. There is no record of Ben and Jane having any children together.
