Services for Charles Alexander Kring will be 12:00pm Saturday at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with Pastor Ben Taylor officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday from 11am until the service at noon. Mr. Kring passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2012, at Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

A native of Franklin County, he was born October 17, 1921 to Sandy and Grace Bridges Kring. He served in the United States Army, 3rd Division, during World War II. He was awarded a Bronze Star, Purple Heart and other service medals. He was a Trooper with the Kentucky State Police retiring after 30 plus years of employment. Mr. Kring began his career with the Kentucky State Police in communications and was accepted into the first Cadet Class offered by the State Police in 1948. He eventually headed the State Police communications center at Frankfort for many years and achieved the rank of lieutenant. He was a member of the First Christian Church.

Mr. Kring was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jane Baker Kring; an infant son, Larry Lee Kring; his parents; brothers, Clyde and James Kring, and sister, Alice Robinson.

Survivors include his two sons, Tom Kring (Marcia) and Jerry Kring (Dreama); brother, Ralph Kring; sisters, Freda Tracy (Kenneth) and Thelma Metts; grandchildren, Shawn Kring (Sheri), Kristin Taylor (Ben), Jami Arrowsmith (Tim), and Jeffery Kring (deceased); numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
