Death: Jan. 20, 1947

T/Sgt Basil L. Joseph was the Radio Operator on the crew of a B-29 bomber being transferred to long term storage. The flight originated in Salina, Kansas direct to Pyote, Texas but the B-29 developed problems just west of Wichita Falls, Texas. The number 2 engine had an overspeed and the engine was shut down. The prop was windmilling at an RPM higher than the cruse speed. The crew noticed that the front of the engine was red hot and a few seconds later the #2 prop came off striking the plane on the left hand side cutting all control cables and lines. Everyone bailed out but for two, Basil was one of the two. The crash occurred on 20 Jan. 1947 in Fisher County, Texas.
