Birth: Jul. 2, 1890, Hungary
Death: Jun. 2, 1951
Wayne County
Michigan, USA

Zigmond came over from Hungary as a
young man. I believe that he may
have worked in the coal mines at
first, but that is based on what
a family member told me.
Eventually he moved to Detroit, MI
to find work in the automobile
industry. He ended up working at
an auto company. He married a
Hungarian widow named Ameila, who
had 4 sons. One had died young.

They went on to have 3 daughters.
All of them are now deceased, Grace, Rose
and Olga. From very reliable family
sources, I know that he was a very
kind and loving father, and a hard
worker. His death at a rather young age of 61
may have related to his work in the coal mines.
He married a woman with four sons.
He was very much in love with Amelia,
and that he had a generous and also
a responsible nature. Reportedly,
he also had a lively sense of humor.
Hungarian was spoken in their home.
All of them also spoke English.
Their children were of course required
to speak, read, and write in English,
in school. They belonged to a Hungarian
Reformed Church, and the daughters
danced the Hungarian dances at the church
and other events. Grace was gifted in music
and trained professionally in piano and organ
performance. They were of course, strict with
their children in the "old country" way, and
particularly with their daughters.

Millions of Americans came from their
homelands, to the United States to
find a better and improved life.
Zigmond was lucky enough to find one.

I never got to meet you, grandpa. I was told that you were a loving husband, father, step-father, and that you had a lively sense of humor. God bless you, and rest in peace.
