WILLIAM ''BILL'' AIME MORRIS, 62, died Aug. 17, 2002, in Palmer at the home of his friend Cathy Smith after a seven-year battle with cancer. A memorial service was held at Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla.

Mr. Morris was born Jan. 29, 1940, in N. Adams, Mass. He came to Alaska on Oct. 10, 1973, and lived on Soapstone Road in Palmer. Mr. Morris had been employed as a school bus driver and had worked as a delivery driver for the Anchorage Daily News. He retired in 1990. Mr. Morris enjoyed gardening, tinkering around the house and watching Mariners baseball games. His friend Cathy remembers: ''Bill was always willing to help his friends in any way he could. His friends in Alaska were like family to him.'' He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Aurora Morris, and son, Curtis.

Mr. Morris is survived by three sons, Billy, Randy and Lonnie Morris, all of N. Adams; stepchildren, Brett Beis and Nicole Sherwood; and special friends, Jason Harder, Tim Bauman, and Curt and Casey Smith. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1301 Century Drive, Wasilla 99654. Interment was at Palmer Pioneer Cemetery.
