Ada Mae Artze, 103, of Decatur, died at 9:53 a.m., Thursday, July 03, 2014, in
Imboden Creek Living Center.
A funeral service honoring her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 8,
2014, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2727 N. Union Blvd., Decatur. Pastor Russell
Weise will officiate. Burial will take place in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her service at 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made in her honor to: the Lutheran School Association
or St. John's Lutheran Church. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service & Care is handling
the arrangements.
Ada was born on September 13, 1910, in Essex, MO, the daughter of Joseph and
Addie (Morris) Belskamper. She married Edward W. Artze on August 9, 1930, and he
preceded her in death on March 17, 1979. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran
Church. She served as President of the Macon County PTA. She worked as a
Licensed Practical Nurse for St. Mary's Hospital before retiring after 30 years. She
loves traveling, fishing, spending time with her family, Christmastime, NASCAR
(especially Jeff Gordon!), and she was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Ada is survived by her daughters: Phyllis Lotz of Decatur, Carol Andricks of
Decatur, and Janet (Roland) Dahnke of Marshall, IL; grandchildren: Michael (Janet)
Lotz of Marietta, GA, Mark Lotz of Decatur, IL, Candace (Andy) Ward of Stonington,
IL, Timothy (Tanya) Andricks of Decatur, IL, Douglas (Yvonne) Dahnke of
Martinsville, IL, Gregory (Lisa) Dahnke of Cincinnati, OH; step-grandson, David
(Patty) Andricks of Ft. Myers, FL; 15 great grandchildren; 4 great-great
grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, Ada was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter,
two brothers, one sister, and two great grandchildren.
Ada's family would like to extend a special Thank You to: Dr. McCormick & his
staff, DMH Home Care, especially Tina Stine & Diane Cavanaugh, DMH Orthopedic
Wing, and the staff at Imboden Creek.
