Martin "Scotty" Krier was Niles Township Democratic committeeman from 1936 to 1962, when he resigned. His son Raymond, who replaced him on the ticket, was elected.
In his prime, Scotty Krier weighed 300 pounds. He was the owner and founder of a semipro baseball team known first as Krier's Niles Center Indians and later, when the town's name was changed, to Krier's Skokie Indians.
In addition to being the township committeeman, Scotty was a commissioner of the Skokie Park Board Recreation Commission and a director for nine years of the Skokie Chamber of Commerce.
He also was a past governor of the Skokie Loyal Order of Moose, a past president of the Section 15 of the Luxembourg Brotherhood of America and charter member of the Skokie Civic Theater.
Married June 20, 1914 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.
