John served as a Second Lieutenant, 66th Infantry, 71st Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Penobscot County, Maine prior to the war.

John was "Killed In Action" in France during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred in St. Avold, Metz, France and was later repatriated here on November 17, 1948.

In memory of.....My Grandfather Kenneth D. Hathaway (1st Sgt.) pulled you from the battlefield after you were wounded. Although you didn't survive you were always in his memories, and I am continuing that memory.
