"I have a degree in Business Education from East Central University at Ada, Okla., a Master's from South Western State at Weatherford, and additional studies from the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. I've been teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent in Oklahoma schools. I love sports of all kinds and I like to read newspapers. As far as health woes, I am a diabetic. Everyone who knows me says I exhibit the Harmon trait of being stubborn and set in my ways." Memories - Summer 1999, Arvis Harmon.

Speak of humor my fondest memories are at Christmas time and all the Harmon bothers making fun of each other. They could be very creative. Arvis once boxed for the Golden gloves in Stuart. He was their only undefeated fighter, and would shadow box in front of the mirrow while his brother hooted. He fought a fellow in Calvin, OK who had much more experience, and the other fellow had him on the ropes from the get go, and Elton was setting down front and yelling for the fellow to come around on his side as he could get a better shot. Arvis did not come home for two days after this defeat. He couldn't have handled the razzing. - Sam Harmon

Arvis served in the U. S. Navy and was stationed aboard the Franklin D. Roosevelt, which suffered extensive damage from Japanese suicide attacks during World War II.

In 1999, Arvis shared with us his "Summer Memories" of the Harmon family. Those memories have been incorporated in the Harmon Family Tree.
