ROY "PAINTER'' PAINTIFF, 57, OF TIOGA, Nicholas County, died Feb. 10, 1992, at home after a long illness.

He was a member of Church of the Nazarene, Craigsville. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of VFW. He was a licensed auctioneer, a retired miner and a member of UMW.

Surviving: wife, Shirley Fowler Paintiff; son, Jessie of Elk Grove, Ill.; daughters, Louise Paintiff of Craigsville, Charlene Sknerski of Hanover Park, Ill.; stepsons, Johnny Butler of Rising Star, Texas, Billy Butler of Charleston, S.C., Harold Butler of Tioga; stepdaughter, Dora Butler of Summersville; brothers, Richard of Strange Creek, Tommy of Gassaway, Russell of Hartwell, Ga.; sisters, Bessie Rice of Richwood, Betty Jarvis of Gassaway, Blanch Houghton of Frametown, Ruby Jones of Charleston; seven grandchildren Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at White Funeral Home, Craigsville, with the Rev. Bill Dawson officiating. Burial will be in West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
