Clarence was born to Jennie Gertrude Gardner. Mathew Hosken Rowe was Clarence's second step-father. Clarence used Mathew Rowe's surname most of his life.

Clarence married:

(1) Elizabeth Christen Eldridge July 2, 1921 in Butte, Silver Bow County, Montana.

They had one child together:

Clarence Eugene Rowe, Jr. (Abt 1922 - 1930)

Elizabeth died at 18.

(2) Erna Studt (Smith)(Golden) October 5, 1925 in Butte,Silver Bow County, Montana. Erna had previously been married to Thomas F. Golden, and, so, married Clarence using the surname "Golden".

Clarence and Erna were married until Clarence's death in 1950.

Clarence Rowe is Summoned

Clarence E. Rowe, Butte resident, 52 years died Sunday in his home at 66 West Platinum, following an illness.

A miner, Mr. Rowe was councilor of the Butte Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a member of Mount Moriah lodge No. 24 AF and AM, and the Butte Miners Union. Mr. Rowe was a native of Utah.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Erna Rowe; a son-in-law and daughter, Mrs. and Mrs. Clyde Berry, and three grandchildren, Susan, Gail and Michael Berry, all of Seattle, Wash.; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rowe and Mrs. and Mrs. W. M. Rowe, all of Butte; Mrs. and Mrs. Daniel Rowe of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. and Mrs. Mathew Rowe of Grand Junction, Colo., and Mrs. and Mrs. Paul Rowe of Berkeley, Calif., and a brother-in-law and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Stevens of Twin Bridges and Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Snider of Whitehall.

The body is in White's funeral home.
