Birth: Jan. 25, 1869
Coryell County
Texas, USA
Death: Jan. 22, 1943
Dallas County
Texas, USA

John L. Pennington was the first born of Asa and Nancy Jane Magill Pennington. His marker mistakenly shows his date of birth as 1870. The correct date of birth has been verified through other records, including his death certificate and census records. The 1870 date was erroneously given on the application for his military marker.

As a young man of 29, he enlisted for service in the Spanish American War on June 30, 1898 and served until March 7, 1899. He was honorably discharged upon completing his service.

After returning from military service, he married Josephine Williams. They had daughters Beatrice, Pauline, and Juanita.

In various records, John is listed as a stationary engineer and an electrical engineer.
