Gertrude was a favorite in the Gardner family. She was a very special person. At a young age, she became ill and was placed in an Institution in Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. She died exactly three months before her parents, Robert Franklin Gardner and Dovie Mae Short Garnder, were killed after being hit by a car. She is at peace with her family in Heaven.
