| Birth: | Jul. 4, 1829 | | Death: | Mar. 12, 1911 |  Civil War Confederate Brigadier General. At the outbreak of the Civil War, he entered the Confederate Army and was appointed Colonel in command of the 2nd Arkansas Infantry Regiment. He led the 2nd Arkansas in the Battles of Shiloh and was given command of the brigade at the Battle of Chickamauga in 1862. Promoted Brigadier General in 1863, his command consisted of the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th Arkansas Infantry Regiments, which participated in the Atlanta Campaign. In 1864, he was captured at the Battle of Jonesboro, was prisoner exchanged by Union forces and served the remainder of the war with the Army of Tennessee. After the war, he was a farmer and served as the Indian agent at the Tulalip Agency in Washington State.
