ARMSTRONG Dr. Nolen Lee Armstrong, age 82, died of natural causes Sunday morning September 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Norman Regional Hospital. He is survived by his wife Bobbie Jean Armstrong of Norman, his sons Robert Nolen Armstrong and Nolen Lee Armstrong II of Oklahoma City, his daughter Margaret Armstrong Lieb of Tulsa, and sister Murline Painter of Fulton Missouri. Also surviving are Dr. Armstrong's stepsons and stepdaughters Gary Clinton, Carol Smith, Robert Clinton, Cathy Barnum and John Clinton of Norman, and Julie Quinn of Alexandria, Virginia. Surviving grandchildren are Terri and Tyree Armstrong of Oklahoma City, Mason and Todd Lieb of Tulsa, Daniel Galloway of Oklahoma City and Casey Quinn of Alexandria, Virginia. Grandchildren from Norman are Solon Clinton, Andrew Clinton, Matthew Clinton, Daniel Clinton, Samantha Smith, Brian Clinton, Will Dabney, Catie Dabney, Coree Clinton, Levi Clinton and Emma Clinton. Nolen Lee Armstrong was born August 20, 1917 in Odessa, Missouri. He was a graduate of Odessa High School and the University of Missouri. He taught High School briefly and then continued his education receiving a medical degree from St. Louis University. During the Korean conflict, Dr. Armstrong served as an Aviation Flight Surgeon. Nolen's medical practice was family medicine and general surgery for 25 years before entering his specialty of Psychiatric practice in 1969. Dr. Armstrong was a founder of the Mayfair Medical Center, served as Chief of Staff at Deaconess Hospital, and later was Chief of Staff and a director of the Willow View Hospital. Nolen attended the Westminster Presbyterian Church and the First Unitarian Church of Oklahoma City. Organizations that Nolen Armstrong was active in were: Oklahoma Psychiatric Association (past president), Central Oklahoma Psychiatric Society, American Psychiatric Association, Oklahoma County Medical Association, Oklahoma State Medical Association, American Association of Family Practice, American Association of Psychiatry and Law, American College of Forensic Psychiatry, Flying Physicians Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and the Oklahoma City Aviation Club. A viewing will be at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman on Tues., Sept. 14. Burial services will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Oklahoma City at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 15th, followed by a memorial service at Westminister Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m.
