Dr. John T. Lawton, a retired cardiologist in St. Louis, died Friday (Sept. 6, 1996) at his home in Ladue after a long illness. He was 71.
Dr. Lawton was born and raised in St. Louis. He earned his medical degree from St. Louis University Medical School and served in the Army Medical Corps in the Korean War.
He was in private practice here for 40 years. He was on staff at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur and a former president of the medical staff and director of the coronary care unit at DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton. He was also an instructor in internal medicine at St. Louis University Medical School. He retired in 1990.
In 1972, he was made a Knight of the Holy Sepulcher by Pope Paul VI for his professional care of St. ...(ref: St Louis Post-Dispatch, September 8, 1996)
Note: John is likely the older brother of Joseph Anthony Lawton(1931-2016) as cited in his wedding announcement posted on his memorial, specifically referenced in the following excerpt:..."will have his brother, Capt John T. Lawton, on duty with the Army in Japan, as best man."
This also implies that Dr Thomas Patrick Lawton(1894-1966) is John's father. Any confirmation or otherwise would be appreciated.
