Edwin was the son of Parren C. Golden and Mollie Weeks. His mother died 2 days after his birth so her was raised by his maternal grandparents.
His maternal grandparents were Edward Taylor Weeks and Charity Ann Melissa Bates Weeks.
He married Margarete Singleton on June 19, 1925. They had five daughters: Kay Frances, Mildred Louise, Johnnie Muriel, Veleria Mae, and Thelma Jo.
The following obit is copied as it was printed in the November 12, 1966 edition of The Monroe Morning World:
"Edwin Deval Golden, 64, a City of Monroe employee as a nightwatchman at Bernstein Park, died Friday night at St. Francis Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services are in complete under direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe.
Mr. golden was a native of Natchitoches and had resided in Monroe for the past 15 years.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Margarete Golden of Monroe; five daughters, Mrs. Fred wilson, Mrs. Johnny Simmons and Mrs. Dewey Roberson, all of Monroe, Mrs. Billy Wade of Zachary, and Mrs. Kay Roberts of Louisiana Mesa Calif.; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild."
