Burial site is located on private property. When I was a kid growing up nearby, my brothers and I would visit the site often. My wife, Nelli and I returned to the site on 8 April 2006, with the land owner. This was the first time in about 50 years that I had been to the site. Mr May and his wife, E.F. May are inside the wrought iron fence. A few feet away is another grave of John W. May inside another wrought iron fence. Not sure of the relationship, possible a son.

Jehu was the son of Ethelred May.
He married Elizabeth F. "Lizzie" Thornhill on Nov 18, 1838. They had eleven children.

OBITUARY: Minutes, Bogue Chitto Baptist Church (on file at Mississippi College, Clinton MS), 2 Feb 1899
Obituary on Jehu May, the subject of this sketch.
Brother Jehu May after a brief illness passed away February 2nd, 1899. He was born on October 24, 1817, aged 81
years, 3 months and 2 days. He was married to Elizabeth F. Thornhill, November 18, 1838, who still survives him. To them were born 11 children, seven of whom
still survive. He joined the Bogue Chitto Baptist Church by letter November 3, 1877, being a faithful member until God called him home. He was a faithful student of the Bible, which was a lamp to his feet and a light to his pathway, a
regular "landmarker" and he had the courage of his conviction ever ready to defend what he believed to be right. We extend to his wife and children our sympathy, and pray Gods grace to console and comfort. S.C. Walker, L.R.
Gulledge, H.D. White, Committee from the Bogue Chitto Baptist Church.
