Duran -- Orlando"Red" C. Duran, a lifelong resident of Alameda (Albuq. North Valley), passed on to be with our Lord early Friday, December 27, 2002. Red was born on January 27, 1946, to Ernesto and Flora Ortega Duran that preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his wife Rose Trujillo-Duran and two brothers-Ernest Duran Jr. and Daniel A. Duran. He is survived by his brother Dr. Levi I. Duran and wife Loretta Sekot-Duran, of Albuquerque; sisters Georgia Duran and husband Joe Castillo of Albuquerque, Orlinda and husband Ray Faini of Wenatchee, WA, Vivian and husband Jim Jungbauer of Pullman, WA., Norma Jean Duran of Phoenix:, AZ., and Isabel Tapia of Albuquerque. He is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces including Brian and Max Duran that lived and cared for him at his home in the North Valley. Red served in the US Army from 1965-67. He received his Bachelors of Science from Washington State University with the Class of 1977. He taught Industrial Arts in the Cuba and Los Lunas Schools. He also worked at TVI and UNM. Red was a generous, kind and quite person. A rosary will be recited on Monday, December 30, 2002 at 7:00p.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 9502 4th St. NW. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00a.m on Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with Father Juan Mendez celebrant. Internment will follow at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 12:00 noon. Pallbearers are Max Duran, Danielle Duran, Levi J. Duran, Kathy Klemple, Sam Lucero, and Abran Tapia. In lieu of flowers, Red would be honored by contributions to the Kidney Fund or American Diabetes Foundation. Funeral arrangements by Direct Funeral Service, 2919 4th St. NW. 505-343-8008.
