Silas married, about 1911, Effie Odo Chaney, a daughter of William Ninevah "Nin" Chaney and Martha B "Mattie" Pinkston.
Father of Katherine, Doris, Edith, Glen, Gracie, Martha Louise, Infant and Peggy Jean Burns.

BURNS, SILAS SIFER (JACK)
Silas Sifer (Jack) Burns, 62, died at 5:45 p. m. Sunday at his residence, 1705 South Twenty-sixth Street.
Funeral services were held in Connally's Chapel at 1:30 p. m. Monday with the Rev. Tilson Maynard officiating, assisted by the Reb. J. D. Evertt [sic]. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery.
Survivors include his widow, Effie Burns of Waco; six daughters, Mrs. J. D. Everett, Mrs. V. E. Brown, Mrs. C. Dalrymple and Mrs. J. L. Kelly, all of Waco. Mrs. Howard Buckley of Belton, Mrs. H. L. Fuentes of Waco; one son, Glenn Burns of Waco; 18 grandchildren.
Pallbearers: O. L. Grimes, Joe Webb, Brady Everett, Frank James, W. C. Clemens and Lovell Moore.
