Goldie Vesper Bailey, 77, Route 1, Jamestown passed away Monday evening, Feb. 10, 1969, at his residence. Though he had been in failing health for eight years, his death was unexpected.
Born March 22, 1891 in Hendricks County, he was a son of Marion and Rachel (Young) Bailey. Goldie, known as Vesper, played on the first football team at Lizton. On Nov. 11, 1912, he was married at Danville to Ruth Ann Keeney who survives. Mr. Bailey had been engaged in farming his entire life in the Lizton area.
He was a member of the Lizton Christian Church and the Lizton K. of P. Lodge. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Lizton K. of P. Cemetery Association and was manager of the cemetery. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the State Bank of Lizton succeeding his father in 1939.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Ronald M. Bailey of near Jamestown and Richard Bailey of Dallas, Texas.
Funeral services were conducted at the Walker Funeral Home in Jamestown with burial in the Lizton K. of P. Cemetery.
