Daniel Arthur Gatto was the son of Carmen Louise Gatto and Daniel Anthony Gatto, a veteran patient at the VA.
Daniel enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on 17 August 1967 at the Albany, NY, Recruiting Office. He was 17 years, 2 months and 6 days old at the time of his enlistment.
On 6 June 1969, Private Daniel Gatto was serving with H Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division, in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.
On that day, Pvt Gatto was killed in action when he sustained multiple fragmentation wounds while participating in Operation Virginia Ridge. His body was recovered.
Daniel was survived by his mother and father, his son, Daniel Anthony Gatto, Jr., c/o of Anne Marrell, and his aunt, Linda J Barrera, all of Amsterdam, NY.
