Vernon was born in Nashua,NH.His family later moved to CT.
He enlisted in the Marines 10 October 1964,
Vernon arrived in Vietnam was assigned to 2nd Platoon,Hotel Company,2nd Battalion,3rd Marine Regiment,3rd Marine Division.
Vernon was killed by small arms fire during a search and destroy patrol,9 kilometers Southeast of Hoi An,duirng Operation Beacon Torch/Calhoun.
He was single and served his country for three years.
