In 1882, Friedrich led a covered-wagon train of settlers from Nebraska, over the Oregon Trail to Walla Walla where they remained for one year. The journey continue with the family arriving in Ritzville in 1883.
At the time of her death, Katrina, as she was lovingly known, was survived by her husband and five children: Fred (Susanna), Jacob (Anna), Henry (Ella), Maria (John) Kanzler, all of Adams County, and Alexander (Daisy) of Okanogan County, as well as numerous relatives and friends. Following the funeral service and words spoken by Rev. Morach, interment was at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.
